All right, all right, calm yourselves, operatives. Pull a chair up to the ol' briefing table and pay close attention. I realize that the majority of you (in the United States and Canada, at least) have just watched, with sad countenances and heavy hearts, what were purported to be the final episodes of "La Femme Nikita." Now, now, quit sobbing, and let me finish!
It's been awful these past few months, I know, with our show languishing in the Abeyance Pool, and all, but I have some Intel that I believe will ease our collective pain:
The Powers That Be (you know, the usual suspects: The Centre, Oversight, Warner Bros., the USA Network, etc.) have rescinded their hateful cancellation orders! Yes, that's right, "Up the Rabbit Hole" and "Four Light Years Farther" are not, after all, the last episodes of LFN that we all are destined to watch. Our show will be back!
::::::a quantity of sighs of relief, peppered by some screams of joy, and other celebratory exclamations resound throughout the room, as the assembled operatives grasp the meaning of it all::::::
At this time, please allow me to turn this briefing over to Mr. Christopher Heyn, who will inform us of the details:
From the Heyn's Hussies Message Board
Begin transmission...
Okay, everyone it's *official*!
1. LFN will return for a truncated fifth season of eight all-new episodes, which will debut in January 2001.
2. All of LFN's regular cast members (Peta, Roy, Eugene, Alberta, Don, Matthew, and Carlo) are returning. However, because of this season's revised budget, not all actors can be in every episode. TPTB are making the best of this situation by creating a season-long arc where every character plays a role in the overall story. In addition to our regulars, Kate Quinn will return to Comm, and there are plans to bring back one or two notable guest characters from previous seasons as well.
3. Executive Consultant Robert Cochran will be running the writers' office this season, and will write Season Five's premiere episode. Jamie Paul Rock returns as our producer in the Toronto office, along with almost all of our key department heads, with the notable exception of Rocco Matteo and editors Dave Thompson and Richard Wells, all of whom have already moved onto other projects. However, long-time LFN art director Terry Wareham receives a well-earned promotion to Production Designer for this season. Congratulations, Terry! Oh... and yeah, I'm back in the writers' office, too. :-)
At this point, it would be appropriate to not only thank USA and Warner Bros. for coming together and making this deal happen, but also to the well-organized and well-connected efforts of First Team, Beauty and everyone else who demonstrated to USA and Warner Bros. what an incredibly dedicated viewing audience LFN has. Without your daily efforts in generating literally thousands of letters, emails and faxes (not to mention TV sets, remotes, VCRs and flyers handed out personally) to USA and WB, this deal probably would never have happened.
So, on behalf of TPTB and myself to you the fans... THANK YOU.
Now on to Season Five!
Chris
...Ending transmission...
Operatives, you are now dismissed. Please, however, be careful to refrain from any further emotional exhibitions, such as skipping, singing, being vocally grateful to your deity, goosing either of the Torture Twins, razzing Operations, or executing cartwheels through Comm, while you remain within the building, as Madeline may or may not be lurking in the shadows with a purse full of sharp needles and unpleasant intentions.

If you absolutely must, or quite simplyneedto, know what happens after episode #415, "Abort, Fail, Retry, Terminate" (premiere date: Sunday, July 16, 2000 in the US), and due to some instability in your mental/emotional makeup you cannot wait for the episodes to air in the US, or elsewhere, then might I suggest that you browse through Northstar's transcripts of the following episodes that have already aired in Canada:
And if you'd like a refresher on AFRT, then by all means... #415, "Abort, Fail, Retry, Terminate"
Thank you, Northstar, for all of your hard work on these, and for sharing them with us. Who knows, I might just make it through August, after all. <g>

As you may have already heard, "La Femme Nikita's" fifth season has been canceled. Alberta Watson, Joel Surnow, K. Douglas MacRae and Peter Lenkov have all confirmed. Christopher Heyn, however, had this to say:
"I can only speak for myself, but the reason *I* haven't said anything is because as far as we in L.A. have been told, the situation isn't *officially* over yet, and could drag on for some time. Therefore, an announcement was made in Toronto out of fairness to the crew."
Fans are pulling together to protest this action. To find out how you can help, please visit this page.

I am very excited to announce the first public showing of the La Femme Nikita Extended Soundtrack Album Collection, a new feature of the Acceptable Collateral Acres web site! Up till now, only members of the LFN_Music and ACA Updates mailing lists have known of its existence, but after the addition of 15 new songs to both the first and second albums, as well as new mock cover art and liner notes, I just had to share it with you all.
Basically, this is a place you can visit to listen to select songs that have been played on La Femme Nikita, but were not included on the official soundtrack album, like "Standing Around Crying" by Big Sugar, "Jersey Girl" by Holly Cole, "Is Jesus Your Pal?" by Gus Gus, and more. The tracks are full-length, good-quality, streaming RealMedia files, presented as though they were a part of a real soundtrack album, complete with cover art and liner notes. Links to purchasing information for all of the featured artists has been provided, as well, so if you hear something that you like, please consider buying it and supporting the talented people who provide us with their art. Plus, doing so will generate a commission, which will benefit the World Wildlife Fund (when possible).
Your feedback on this project is very important, as it will affect whether or not additional songs and artwork will be made available. So please, let me know what you think!
Also, the May LFN Event Calendar has been updated with airing information for the 5th, and new background artwork has been added to the poems in the Fan Fiction section.

The second installment of iFilm's presentation of Peta Wilson's 1995 film "The Sadness of Sex," entitled "Silver Arrows" begins its run today. The movie is being shown in ten episodes, all in streaming video, with a new one premiering each week.
And here is the followup to the contest held earlier this month:

Hello everyone! First I'd like to thank all the people who entered our online contest to win a copy of "La Femme Peta: The Unofficial Story of the Woman Behind Nikita." The book finally arrived in our office last week hot off the press, and it's gorgeous. I worked on the layout of the pictures, but you just never get a sense of how many there are until you flip through it. Everyone who worked on it was thrilled with it.
From all the entries, we drew 10 names as the winners of free copies of the book. The question that you had to answer was: What was Jurgen doing when Nikita first met him? and the answer was, he was playing a game called "Go." Those who gave the correct answer were put into a draw, and we've drawn the following ten names as winners:
Congratulations to the winners! All winners should expect an email from me shortly verifying your mailing addresses. All those who did not win should watch their inboxes for a message from me offering you the book at a 30% discount. If anyone is reading this message and didn't hear about the contest but is interested in the discount, please email me privately at robjen1@netrover.com and I'll send you details. You can read more about the book at http://www.ecw.ca/press. The book is one of our feature titles, and you can click on it from our portal page.
Thanks again to everyone who entered, and to Janet Layne (Françoise) for allowing us to conduct the contest here!
Sincerely,
Jen Hale

***CONTEST***
ECW Press is proud to announce the upcoming publication of "La Femme Peta: The Unofficial Story of the Woman Behind Nikita." Packed with hundreds of photos (including location shots throughout Toronto that illustrate the episode guide) and an in-depth analysis of the first 3 seasons, this is a must-have for Nikita fans. the book includes biographies of Peta Wilson, Roy Dupuis, Matthew Ferguson, Don Francks, Alberta Watson, and Eugene Robert Glazer; a report on the first Close Quarters Standby convention in Toronto in October 1998; a glossary of terms used on the show, called "Section Speak"; a cross-reference guide to the writers and directors on each show; a guide to the best Nikita sites on the Internet; and tons of trivia and tidbits to keep any reader interested. It's over 300 pages long, and contains a 16-page colour photo section and 8-page glossy black and white section of photos taken by a photographer who followed Peta around for 2 weeks. (I've been working on the book for months, and I can tell you it's amazing!)
We would like to offer Nikita fans on the 'Net the opportunity to get this book before it appears in bookstores and, to do so, we are offering a contest to online fans only. Ten lucky winners will win a copy of the book. To enter, you must answer the following question:
**What is Jurgen doing the first time Nikita meets him?**
Send your answer to the following address: robjen1@netrover.com, with NIKITA CONTEST in the subject line. PLEASE ENTER ONLY ONCE. Multiple entries will be disqualified. This is not a 'first-come, first-served' contest; we will be drawing the 10 names from all the entries, so even the last entry could be a winner! We also need your full name for when we announce the winners. Entries missing names will not qualify to win. Please do not send entries to the mailing list or to your listowner. Please direct any questions to me at the above address.
If you're not sure of the answer, or have it right but aren't selected as a winner, we do have one consolation: All who enter will be sent an offer to buy the book at a 30% discount! This book will retail in bookstores for $16.95 and will be available the first full week of March in Canada and the U.S. (in April for the U.K.), but we will be sending you an offer to buy it for 30% off if you enter the contest.
The contest begins immediately, and is open to everyone, regardless of what country you live in. The contest closes on Wednesday, February 16th at midnight (EST) so please, no entries after that.
For more information on the book, you can check our Web site at http://www.ecw.ca/press. Click on Forthcoming Books and the Nikita book is at the top of the following page.
Good luck!
